Aricxi make some excellent cheap tents and tent/tarps but they also make hammock tarps. They have at least three kinds: rectangular (in various sizes), hexagonal and diamond. I own the latter two. You will find them through a search on Aliexpress. Each cost me well under A$100 delivered yet they are excellent quality. Their hexagonal tarp (A$54 – Aug 2026) is (just) big enough for the two of us (hanging side by side – See Double Hammock 2) but the real winner (for me) was the diamond tarp (A$46 – Aug 2026) which turned out to weigh only 152 grams yet is (just) big enough for me and my DIY Hexon 1.6 x 9′ hammock.
I was delighted by the ‘cut’ (from 5′ wide fabric) which I had not thought of myself. As you can see the tarp is actually smaller in area than my Poncho Multi-Tarp being 45 ft2 instead of 49 ft2. Clever. Yet one diagonal is nearer 12′ than (its) 10′ so that it readily shelters a 9′ hammock.
The sides are now 7.5′ instead of 7′ so that when pegged our as a (ground) tarp with the 10′ diagonal as the ridgeline it is wide enough to sleep horizontally inside the two (side peg-out points so that you are completely protected from the rain. All you need is a small ground sheet such as a space blanket.
The weights on their website were (thankfully) wrong
Quite satisfactory overhang for even serious rain – as you can see.
It’s a bit muddy around here at the moment. Pretty much swimming in mud as I go around the lambs. Sheep are lambing: approx 20 litters of triplets/quads this week, so very busy.

This Aricxi Diamond Tarp will probably go a lot of places with me – maybe even a return top the Dusky Track next autumn.
Now to finish off that hammock. ..I need to make sewn-on stow bag/s for it and I also intend to have stuff sacks which hook into either end plus some ‘saddle-bags’ to hang over the tarp ridge line for putting my glasses, phone etc in of a night. The Hexon 1.6 fabric (from Dutchware) is is a lot stronger than my (till now) trusty Hummingbird Hammocks.
Here it is with the 12′ diagonal sideways and the 10′ diagonal as the ridgeline. As you can see it is wide enough to sleep one (and a small dog). That’s a 6′ x 4′ poly tarp I’m lying on. With two guys at the front it will accommodate a a fire out the front. It needs one) more tie-outs (in the middle) sewn on the sides which run along the ground just to keep it off you a bit better. The Fizan hiking pole is 4’6″ (140 cm). There is a grommet in each corner of the tarp to secure it (also a sewn loop for the pegs). This is the best value (at A$46) and most versatile shelter I have come across.
Honey is looking forward to a trip away in it anyway.
