I am putting together an overnight/weekend kit which is as ultralight as I can get it, anyway under 2 kg. I will probably carry it in my 193 Gram Pack. It will definitely include this cook set. The pot is the Evernew EBT278R 55 gram 570 ml pot. You can find it on Amazon for example for US 22.90 (Jan 2021), possibly elsewhere cheaper.
Inside is my titanium roll-up hobo stove weighing 20 grams which you can make yourself in a few minutes using simple hand tools for a cost of US$4. I will need a couple of ultralight tent stakes (not these ones – well, the paint will burn off quickly!) and a wooden spoon (as shown) and I m good to go. I will add one of these ‘Hot Lips‘ so I don’t burn my lips.
Admittedly the spoon and the lip protector will bring the total weight of the cookset to 80 grams. I am not including the 11 grams (total) weight of the two tent pegs as I always carry a couple spares anyway.
I will have to take a ‘nick’ out of the stove to accommodate the handles of this pot (that will save a gram!)
I will carry my usual Montbell sleeping bag (570 grams) and 340 gram Exped mat (though I could go lighter with a 3/4 length Thermarest X-Light at 260 grams, but do not because of my back).
I will take the cuben version of my ‘Grey Flyer’ tent 160 grams plus a 25 gram Polycro groundsheet or a new version (stretched) of my Poncho tent (@200 grams) which i am waiting on some .83oz/yd2 fabric from the US before I make (it).
A warm coat (174 grams) , an ultralight (50 gram) chair, my new Jelly2 phone (at 110 Grams) and my Garmin Inreach Mini at 100 gramsand 500 grams of food a day should be enough apart from a 160 gram raincoat (if I don’t take the poncho – or an emergency plastic film one (@25 grams). Two empty water bottles @ 20 grams each, plus 500 grams of food per day
